They Knew

“They Knew” is a poetic meditation on becoming.Across themes of love, solitude, science, memory, and self-worth, Patricia Salinas invites the reader into moments both tender and unflinching: standing before a mirror and recognizing distance, riding a bus toward emotional refuge, confronting the weight of ignored truth, and learning to release what no longer belongs. These poems move fluidly between the intimate and the universal; drawing from personal relationships, historical figures, and quiet internal realizations.Written with emotional precision and reflective calm, “They Knew” speaks to readers who have loved deeply, questioned honestly, and ultimately chosen themselves.
